Built for pavement and everything that comes with it. The On Cloudswift 4 is On's urban road shoe, designed to handle the repeated hard impacts of city running and to look right when you wear it around town afterwards.

The big upgrade: grip

Traction measured 0.52 in lab testing, against 0.25 for the Cloudswift 3, more than doubling grip, which makes a real difference on wet city streets. Underfoot, a firm EVA-based Helion midsole uses CloudTec compression pods that collapse under load to soften each step, while a three-quarter-length nylon Speedboard adds midfoot structure.

Most performance running shoes are built on a single unisex last: the shoe is identical, only the size label changes. A US women's 8.5 is a US men's 7.
