Nike's lightest super shoe. The Nike Vaporfly 4 weighs just 166 g, around 13% lighter than the Vaporfly 3, and is built for 5K, 10K and half marathon race day.

How Nike made it faster

Rather than reducing stack height, Nike hollowed out sections of the full-length ZoomX (Pebax) midsole. A carbon-fibre Flyplate delivers a stiff, propulsive toe-off, and in lab testing the shoe returned 78.1% of the energy put into it, among the highest figures ever recorded for a running shoe. The tongue that rubbed on the v3 has been redesigned, and extra rubber now sits under the forefoot.

Fit & sizing

Light, sharp and narrower than the Alphafly, best suited to lighter runners. Save it for the days that count, as the outsole is built for speed rather than daily mileage.

Most performance running shoes are built on a single unisex last: the shoe is identical, only the size label changes. A US women's 8.5 is a US men's 7.
