Before a shoe goes public, Nike's athletes race in unbranded test samples. The Alphafly 3 Prototype nods to that with a white base and orange detailing, released in limited numbers.

Smoother deep into the race

For its third version Nike rebuilt the Alphafly around one full-length ZoomX midsole rather than stacked sections. The transition is smoother than the Alphafly 2, which keeps it holdable late in a marathon at your target pace.

Most performance running shoes are built on a single unisex last: the shoe is identical, only the size label changes. A US women's 8.5 is a US men's 7.
