New Balance's flagship racer. The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite V3 is the shoe the brand's Energy Arc technology was built around, made for half marathons, marathons, long runs and tempo sessions.

How Energy Arc works

Rather than laying a flat carbon plate in a slab of foam, New Balance curves the plate and leaves a void in the midsole beneath it. Under load, the plate bends into that gap, storing energy before releasing it at toe-off. FuelCell foam delivers soft, propulsive cushioning, and at 217 g the shoe sits among the lightest racers on the market.

Fit & sizing

Soft and rolling rather than harsh, and easier to run slowly in than most carbon racers. Note the heel geometry runs taller than the stated drop suggests. Free shipping, tracked door to door.

Most performance running shoes are built on a single unisex last: the shoe is identical, only the size label changes. A US women's 8.5 is a US men's 7.
